Asterisk is a full featured software-based PABX system that runs on the Linux operating system. It's growing in popularity by the day as it allows you to build a commercial grade PABX system for well under $1000. More information is on the Asterisk web site.
While our prompts have been chosen to fully support the native features of Asterisk, they can in principle be used with any PABX system. If your PABX has similar features to Asterisk, whether it be hardware or software based, our prompts can in theory be used as long as you know how to import the prompts.
Don't worry. When you purchase the Premium package, you are automatically entitled to receive new releases, free for one year. Buyers receive information on keeping up to date.
While we strive to keep our package up to date with a full repertoire of prompts, there may be some important ones we've missed out on, or there may be new ones needed to support newer Asterisk features. Please contact us and we'll do our best to get them recorded for the next release.
No, the custom prompts can be recorded for any system of your choosing. They can be delivered on MP3, CD or any other audio format for importing to your system.
In fact, our recording service can record announcements for anything you like, such as web page audio, promotional tapes and videos and just about anything that will benefit from a professional voiceover.
For full documentation on Asterisk including configuration examples, feature support and just about anything else you can think of, you should consult the VOIP Info site, generally considered to be the number 1 authority on Asterisk.
Inclusion of our Free package is encouraged, as described in the licence, and there is no royalty needed to be paid. You need to provide attribution to OpenVoice, but otherwise the licence terms are very liberal. Please let us know if you do include them, we're curious!
Inclusion of the Premium or AtHome prompts in your product is only permitted under arrangement. Contact us to discuss it.
Distribution of custom prompts is permitted with a surcharge - please see the custom information page for more info.
All our prompts are voiced by Alex Dalrymple, who spends much of his time in the studio at a major Sydney radio station. To record these prompts, he speaks into an AKG C1000S mic, routed through a Klotz Digital Vadis panel, all in a soundproof commercial studio.
